Education is the mainstay of our mission at the Greenville County Museum of Art. Teachers from around the region bring their classes to the Museum to give the children a firsthand look at art. There are also gallery talks, lectures, and mini-courses offered at varying times throughout the year, and Thursday-evening programs that range from art to music. If you’re looking for a hands-on experience in art, try the Center for Museum Education, which offers classes for both adults and children. Teachers: Make the Museum Your ClassroomTeachers at all grade levels, including home school instructors, are welcome to bring classes to the Museum for age-specific programs. The youngest children are welcomed by trained docents who read stories and integrate hands-on art experience with gallery scavenger hunts and other activities. Programs for older students are broadly based on the Museum collection, providing opportunities for teachers to integrate art into a wide range of subjects. These programs are offered free, but advance notice is required.
