Try a New Activity Every Month |

Young children benefit in many ways from experience with art, whether that's a visit to the art museum or some painting or drawing exercises they do at home or at school. Above all, a child's imagination is stimulated seeing, by talking about art and interacting with it. Museum Educator Terri Steck creates programs for school children who visit the art museum. She has developed a series of exercises that you can use at home to begin the process of linking art and creativity for your child. “Art is an expression of creativity,” says Steck. “It is a process that enhances development and learning in young children. It is an experience that begins with a child's early exploration and use of ideas and materials, allowing them the time to explore and discover their world.” Each month, you will find new Art Activities here that are designed for your youngsters. They will be open-ended, with originality influencing the outcome. Give them a try with your children. You may be surprised at the results!
