Needed: one plastic tray, water, powdered tempera paint, cooking oil, white paper or coffee filters or construction paper. ( Try a plastic tray, 12" x 14" or larger, that is an inch or two deep. It will be a good investment for present and future art projects is a Fill the tray half way with water. In a separate jar or bowl, mix powdered tempera paint with cooking oil - one part paint to five parts oil. Then drip the oil paint onto the water, and watch it float. Big drops work better than small ones. Use different colors and fill the surface of the water. Lay a sheet of paper or a coffee filter on topof the water and press out any bubbles. Do it gently. Now comes the tricky part. Lift the paper out very carefully, using both hands. (Some of the oil paint may run around the paper.) Hold the paper upright and jiggle the paint for a secondary design. Lay flat to dry. Use your design to wrap a present OR FRAME IT! |
