Make it Easy!
Needed: one old stocking, uncooked rice , 8" x 11" paper (or larger), watercolor paint & tray, and an old shirt for your artist. The tray can be an old baking sheet, or cake pan, but plastic is the best.
We're going "bounce" a masterpiece!
Fill the stocking with a 1/2 lb of rice and tie the stocking around the "knee" length. Cut off the top part of the stocking above the knot. Make a puddle for each of the paint colors (red, yellow, blue) on the tray. Dip the stocking-ball in one of the paints and “bounce” gently on a sheet of paper to make an all-over design or a pattern.
Option: Use a balloon filled with water. Knot it, and follow the instructions above.
Children may want to mix two colors together. Let them. They can learn that red and blue make purple; red and yellow make orange; and blue and yellow make green.
Always remember, its the doing not the end product that counts. |
