Sand Drawing for Fall
Materials needed:
paper in dark shades of green, black, red, blue, or purple
white glue (Elmer’s)
magnifying glass
some small rocks
Using the white glue, draw any design on your choice of colored paper. (You could draw your design with a pencil, then trace it with the glue.) Try not to let globs of glue get too large.
Take two rocks, one in each hand, and rub them together over your design.
Rubbing two rocks together will grind them just like the wind and the weather.
Sand is formed by this rubbing action and will stick in the glue to make your sand drawing.
Try grinding about 1/4 cup of sand into a dish. Before you sprinkle it on your drawing, use the magnifying glass to look at all the different shapes in the grinds of sand.
Let it dry overnight. (Do not shake off the extra sand until your drawing has dried.) |
